The whole drive to this shoot I was watching the sky and praying the weather would hold, but it wasn’t looking promising. We had already rescheduled once due to the snow and this sweet mama was getting so close to her due date that we didn’t want to push the session again.
When we drove up the sky was a gray, threatening rain, and the air was a crisp chill. But still, we pressed in. We embraced the moody tones and cool weather, and the result was just magic.
In previous years, I almost completely paused in the winter, holding my breath for the beautiful scenery of the springtime. For warmth and sunshine and the breathtaking golden light that the winter hardly offers.
This year, I've leaned into this season, and it's been unexpectedly more than I could have anticipated. Creating in the winter is a reminder to search for beauty in a season that boasts of cool hues and bareness... and goodness have I found it the last few weeks.
